Rooney Earns Charlotte Sun Endorsement

Punta Gorda, FL – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) today announced the endorsement of The Charlotte Sun in the Republican primary for his reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Rooney has managed to spend an impressive amount of time here, meeting with local officials and constituents and keeping abreast of the sprawling district’s needs,” The Sun editorial board wrote. “He returns to his district from Washington, D.C., every weekend and all that travel has exposed him to two critical issues — roads and agriculture — and he has worked energetically to address them . . . 

“Rooney, who sits on the House’s agriculture committee, has also been a strong advocate for the district’s agricultural businesses, pushing for funding for research and development of crop-based biofuels that will create another market for farmers and the jobs they produce . . .
